Football
Varsity: Central Valley 27, Pitman 0
JV: Central Valley 21, Pitman 7
Frosh-Soph: Central Valley 30, Pitman 7
The Football program kicked off the season with an impressive program-wide sweep over the Pitman Pride. The Frosh-Soph started things off with a convincing 30-7 last Thursday night. JV would then continue the positive momentum with a 21-7 victory over the Pride. In the main event, the Varsity Hawks came ready to play in their season opener. After a scoreless 1st quarter, the Hawks hit the scoreboard first at the midway point of the 2nd quarter with an impressive 10 yard touchdown pass from Dominic Delatorre to Nicholas Dominguez. This 7-0 lead inspired the Hawks defense as on the next Pitman possession, the CV defense forced a punt and that punt was blocked and recovered by the Hawks! CV would immediately turn this into points as Delatorre connected with Dominguez again, this time on a 30 yard TD strike. The PAT was no good, but the Hawks would take the 13-0 lead. With just 20 seconds left until halftime, the Hawks continued their early game dominance with yet another score. Delatorre hit Caden Mendonca on a 10 yard TD pass to put the Hawks up 20-0 at the half. In the 2nd half, the CV defense was dominant, including 2 interceptions to hold down the Pitman offense. The Hawks would add a 38 TD run by Andre Flores in the 3rd quarter to close out the scoring for the night. The 27-0 CV lead would hold up as the final score. Congrats to the football program on a great start to the season! The Hawks won’t have much time to celebrate as they take on the mighty Hughson Huskies this coming Friday night. The Huskies (1-0) are led by heavily touted Senior quarterback, Robert McDaniel who has signed his college letter of intent with the University of Arizona. Good luck to the Hawks as they battle with the Huskies this Friday night at Ceres High 5:00pm/7:00pm.
