The Lady Hawks made it 2 straight WAC wins with a thrilling victory over the Johansen Vikings.  The 4th and final set proved to be a classic as the Hawks outlasted the Vikings 31-29.  CV was led by Julyanna Valencia (19 digs), Sofia Garibay (11 digs), Payton McConnell (5 kills), and Marion Dennison (4 kills).  The Hawks are now 5-6 overall and 2-3 in WAC play.  The JV also picked up another win with a solid showing and a 2-0 victory.  CV will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Lathrop Spartans.

Girls Flag Football

Varsity: Central Valley 36, Johansen 0

JV: Central Valley 28, Ceres (Frosh) 6

The Hawks flag football team came out ready to play on Monday night and shutout the Johansen Vikings by the score of 36-0.  This win evens CV’s WAC record at 2-2 for the season.  Johansen does not field a JV team, so our JV played against the Ceres frosh team in an exhibition.  The CV JV continues to play well.  The Hawks will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Lathrop to take on the Spartans.

Football

Varsity: Grace Davis 14, Central Valley 0

JV: Central Valley 40, Grace Davis 7

Frosh-Soph: Central Valley 26, Grace Davis 0

The Hawks (1-3) dropped a tough one in their league opener on Friday night by the score of 14-0 to the Grace Davis Spartans.  CV couldn’t get things going offensively, but played a stout game on defense.  Both of the lower level teams dominated the Spartans with a JV win of 40-7 and a Frosh-Soph win of 26-0.  The JV Hawks are now 3-0-1 while the Frosh-Soph Hawks are 4-0.  CV will continue WAC play this Friday night when they travel to Los Banos to take on the Pacheco Panthers.
