JV: Central Valley 8, Beyer 0

The Varsity Hawks continued their solid play as they blanked the Beyer Patriots by the score of 4-0 yesterday at River Bluff Park in Ceres.  CV goals came from Alan Alvarez, Anantah Sinvongxay, Oscar Monzon, & Ivan Velasquez. The Hawks move to 13-5-6 overall, 8-0-2 in WAC (1st place) and are currently ranked #6 in the SJS Division I rankings.  The early season strength of schedule is starting to show as CV has picked up their pace of play down the stretch in league.  The Hawks will look to keep the good times rolling when they travel to Livingston this Thursday.  In their previous matchup, the Hawks and Wolves played to a 1-1 tie, so CV expects another tight one and will be ready for the fight.

Girls Soccer

Varsity: Beyer 2, Central Valley 0

It was one of those days when things did not go the way of the Hawks.  CV fell to the Beyer Patriots by the score of 2-0 at Beyer High yesterday.  The loss snapped an impressive 14-game winning streak by CV.  Although the Hawks did not prevail, they still have a firm grip on 1st place in league.  CV’s overall record is now 16-2-2 and 9-1 in the WAC, with a comfortable cushion in 1st place as 2nd place Ceres is 6-2-2.  The Varsity Girls will look to get a new winning streak started this coming Thursday when they host the Livingston Wolves at River Bluff Park in Ceres.

Girls Basketball

Varsity: Grace Davis 44, Central Valley 42 (OT)

JV: Central Valley defeats Grace Davis

Frosh: Central Valley defeats Grace Davis

The Lady Hawks came within a whisker of pulling off a huge upset.  The Grace Davis Spartans came in to the contest sitting comfortably atop the WAC standings with an overall record of 18-2 and 6-1 in the WAC.  The Hawks (7-14, 1-6 WAC) pushed the Spartans to the limit and forced an overtime period.  Unfortunately, the Hawks would ultimately fall by a bucket to the Spartans, but their gritty effort was applauded by their coaching staff.  Coach Goblirsch shared that he was extremely proud of his team and the heart that they showed last night.  The girls fought until the end and continue an impressive turnaround from past years of inconsistent play.  This season, the Hawks have improved each and every week as they look to turn that effort into wins down the stretch.  CV will give it another try this Thursday when they travel to Pacheco to take on a solid Panthers squad.  Congrats to both the Frosh and JV teams for coming away with wins last night!
